Grammy Award for Musicians, 2009 Grammy award winners

The 2009 Grammy Awards were chock full of folk, bluegrass, and Americana artists. Not only were there a number of great nominees in the typical folk and bluegrass categories, but folk artists are dominating other categories, as well. The nominees for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards were announced on December 3, 2008. The awards were presented in ceremonies on February 8, 2009, which were be televised on CBS. The nominees in folk categories—and folk artists nominated in other categories—are listed below.


· Winner: Bela Fleck & the Fleck tones won for Best Pop Instrumental Album (Jingle All the Way).

· Sheryl Crow was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album (Detours).

· Neil Young was nominated for Best Solo Rock Performance (”No Hidden Path”).

· The Ditty Bops were nominated for Best Recording Package (Summer Rains).

· Aimee Mann was nominated for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package.

Cuban diva Omara Portuondo and renowned pianist Chucho Valdes won Latin Grammy awards during the 10th Latin Grammy Awards ceremony held on Thursday night at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center.
